Perception and Basic Beliefs: Zombies, Modules and the Problem of the External World
Lyons, Jack (Associate Professor, Associate Professor, University of Arkansas)
This book argues that perceptual beliefs are epistemologically basic (noninferentially justifiable) and that a basic belief is one that results from a certain kind of cognitive module, of which perceptual modules are a special type. The result is a reliabilist epistemology that takes inferential justification seriously while remaining staunchly externalist.
