The Mescalero Project: a Response to Lord of the Flies

2021: Intense solar flares cause power and communication grid failures. Computer files are corrupted, not retrieved. Seeing his opportunity, the warden of a secret, experimental prison, abandons the inmates and the project is forgotten. Fifty years pass before Jacob Moss, working in the national archives, discovers blueprints of the complex and sets out to find it. Once inside, he finds evidence of fraud, sabotage, and murder and, surprisingly, one inmate still alive. Vincent Briscoe helps Moss understand what happened to all of them when it became clear what they would have to do if they wanted to survive.
