When four middle-age couples charter a sailboat in the Caribbean, their carefully laid plans fall apart as each person becomes involved in the other's problems: a failing marriage, a lesbian affair, an open marriage, and a former male stripper involved with the Captain's young wife. To their misadventures add a storm, a near drowning in a riptide, a pregnant woman lost on an uninhabited island, and a headless body caught in the trawling net. As the story unfolds, the couples reflect upon their lives and try to repair the problems that have caused the rifts in their marriages.
