In creating Wally, the Unlikely Hero, I was motivated by seeing the hurt inflicted by kids teasing this certain person for having a different look than themselves! This victim is an amazing person, able to forgive and move on. And so Wally is modeled after him. I would like to add here that his parents' unconditional love was the catalyst that nurtured this young man into the person that he is today!
