Multimedia can be defined to be the combination and integration of more than one media format (e.g., text, graphics, images, animation, audio and video) in a given application. Content owners (e.g., movie studios and recording companies) have identified two major technologies for the protection of multimedia data: encryption and watermarking. Encryption is a procedure that renders the contents of a multimedia element unintelligible to unauthorized people. Digital watermarking has received increasing attention in recent years. Image watermarking is the process of embedding an invisible watermark in an image in order to make it very difficult to remove the watermark after intentional attacks and normal audio/visual processes. Distribution of movies, music, and images is now faster and easier via computer technology, especially on the Internet.
