On the Assessment of Quality Teaching Processes: Case Study: Computer Science Training

Quality is a multi-perspective construct, it varies from one context to another and it is difficult to define. In order to improve quality concept in higher education we need to assess educational processes without forgetting to discuss distance learning processes. For these reasons, three assessment models are presented: the first assesses educational processes, the second e-learning processes and the third a combination between them to assess mixed processes. Then, they are refined by listing their related assessment criteria. A survey methodology is chosen to assess learning and teaching processes of Certificate of Informatics and Internet training, and to validate the first proposed model, beside an on-line survey with a file transfer tool are developed using CMS technology. Empirical results from collected data show that some of the characteristics of the lecturer, the profile of the student, and learning situation?s characteristics increase learner?s satisfaction and decrease the rate of absenteeism. Therefore, we have teaching processes of higher quality.
