This study compares the 8th grade students' achievement in the physical science class with the parents' level of education. Researchers across the world have reported that there is a considerable influence from the family background in the participation and achievement of the students in physical science. The effect of school or teacher quality in academic achievement is less that the effect of the family background in the students' success.
