Graham Greene:: Finding the Man Within

A study of Graham Greene's travel writing and his fiction, focussing on his four great novels:'Brighton Rock', 'The Power and the Glory', 'The Heart of the Matter' and 'The End of the Affair". Greene's psychology and his religious beliefs, it is argued, were inextricably intertwined and resulted in his fascination for life on "the edge of things" and in his penchant for danger and life-threatening situations. The origins and development of Greene's fictional world are traced in what should prove a useful and thought-provoking perspective for students of Graham Greene, Catholic writers and twentieth century fiction.
