This book is Dr. Jaeok Lee's PhD thesis. It introduces a pituitary hormone, prolactin (PRL) known as a lactogenic hormone. Mysteriouly, PRL is present in all vertabrates not only in mammals but also in birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish, and has a lots different biological funtions such as metabolism, immunity, anti-angiogenesis, etc. The species and location specific function of the hormone has not been completely understood yet. Here, you can see that a very less concentration (pM) of the fragments and 14 mer peptide derived from buffalo pituitary PRL has anti-angiogenic function through an interference of nitrc oxide pathway. Moreover, this book will help you to understand how to approach and to purify a target protein, and how to characterize its biochemical and biological properties.
