The town of Helena, Nevada had once been a booming site for gold rushers looking to rest on their way to the Pacific Coast. That was fifty years ago, however, and now Helena is a town on its last legs. No one visits, no one settles, and no one shops, despite the train station and tracks that run right through the heart of their community. Everything changes, however, when out of work Broadway actor Wendell Lodge visits, looking to start a new life. Recruited to bring a little excitement to their sleepy village, Lodge brings a taste of the theatrical to Helena, marketing it to travelers as the last "wild" town in the West, where the gunfights are frequent, the sheriff is missing, and the thrill of adventure never rests. The only problem is convincing the people who actually visit---including Teddy Roosevelt himself---that it's not all just an act...
