Fragile Strands to Freedom Book Two

Fleeing from the injustice of being owned by another human being, runaway slaves in the 1850's South often had help. Their journeys northward were definitely filled with uncertainty and fear, but frequently they were assisted by abolitionists who disapproved of holding others in bondage. Stories abound of their adventurous travels, but what in their lives caused them to run away from what was familiar and head out into the unknown? Why did they leave and what type of free citizens did they become once they reached Ohio?
