The United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) is a trade agreement between the named partner countries that replaced the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) . It became effective July 1, 2020. This book provides a guide to assist exporters, importers, producers, and other related professionals to verify or reverify if products qualify under the strict rules of origin for duty-free status or preferential treatment. Examples are provided for each of the Criteria A through E that are available to qualify products under the agreement. The book provides an overview of the differences between the NAFTA and the USMCA, definitions of unique terms, steps in qualifying or requalifying products, the Annex 4B Product Specific Rules, instructions on completion and example of Certification of Origin for qualified products, specials provisions for automotive and textiles, origin verifications, advance ruling procedures, country of origin marking, entry and claim procedures, record keeping, penalties, and a resource section.
