Loafer Pete Thompson (Rhys Ifans) is forced out of his lethargy when he inherits his father's publishing business - much to the envy of his best friend, company accountant Sean Deeny (Joseph Fiennes). While Pete's relationship with his girlfriend, Sarah (Sadie Frost), suffers upon the discovery that he has a very low sperm count, Deeny plots to steal Pete's inheritance away from him - calling for the involvement of Russian loan shark Mr Kant (Steven Berkoff) and his attractive daughter, Masha (Tara Fitzgerald).
