'My Funny Valentine: Miles Davis In Concert' marks several historical turning points: for Davis, it was the last time he recorded standards. It is also one of the last documents of the same band that created ‘Seven Steps To Heaven’. The concert, which served as a benefit to support voter registration in the South and as a fundraiser for the NAACP, the Congress of Racial Equality and the SNCC, took place at the height of the civil rights movement – an issue that was very close to Miles Davis's heart.
