Texas native Ruth "Silky" Waters is a vocalist who is easily versed in ballads, jazz, blues, gospel and R&B, and has performed with musical giants Lionel Hampton, Miles Davis and Freddie Hubbard. In 1980 she released the disco inspired full length album "Out in the Open" which has gone on to become a highly collectible album among fans of rare disco-funk on LP. The album featured a great studio band consisting of John Davis (keyboards, synthesizer); Tony Branco (keyboards); Vince Fay (bass); Grant MacAvoy (drums); Craig Synder (guitar); Ronnie James (guitar); Larry Washington (percussion); Gerson Rosenbloom (synthesizer); Don Renaldo Strings (strings); Joe Davis, Lee Finn and Bill Theurer Jr. (trumpets); Bill Stover (trombone); Rico Mordenti and Scott Allan Young (saxes); Carolyn Mitchell, Brenda Hill, Craig Whitely, Lawrence Cottrell, Dean Davis and Deborah Ford (background vocals). Now finally available in the digital domain, all selections have been newly remastered.
