Publisher Marketing: Welcome to Back to Basics! We are just a couple of wives and moms who like to cook like our grandma's used to. We do some "crazy" things, like, using soaked beans, using fresh or frozen veggies instead of canned. We drink raw milk and home-make as much as we can instead of buying premade. It is our hope that this recipe book will inspire you to try some old ways of cooking in a modern cooking world--like living without a microwave and using lard you've rendered yourself. Because Olga is gluten sensitive, each recipe is either gluten free, or we have substitutes listed so you can make the recipe gluten free. We did have one particular challenge with some recipes... measurements. We, Olga especially, like to "eye-ball it" when it comes to measuring. So, have no fear about messing up the recipes. The best part of cooking is experimenting and having fun. Don't be afraid to try something new, or change up the recipes to incorporate foods you like and leave out the ones you don't. Make them your own! We hope you enjoy preparing some delicious, healthy dishes for your family and friends.
