'Olelo nane, loosely translated as Hawaiian riddles, parables, and allegories, is an indirect speech method which requires the speaker and interpreter both to have a thorough understanding of the Hawaiian Language and ideology systems. As part of the author's research for her Masters degree in Hawaiian Language, various 'olelo nane were compiled then used to display possible embodiments of a single entity. This process allows for a shift in perspective, encouraging the reader to broaden their understanding of the Hawaiian Language. He ola ko ka 'olelo.
