FY 2017 President's Budget Submission

A major focus of the OCC's supervisory, regulatory, and administrative programs for FY 2016 will be implementing the remaining applicable provisions of the Dodd-Frank Act and the enhanced capital framework under Basel III. Work will also continue to fully integrate the applicable regulatory, supervisory policy and examination platforms for national banks and federal savings associations and to ensure that these institutions comply with applicable new statutory and regulatory requirements. In addition, the OCC and the other federal banking agencies are conducting a review of the burden imposed on community institutions by existing regulations pursuant to the decennial review required by the EGRPRA. The OCC is observing signs that credit risk is building, including erosion in the underwriting standards for syndicated leveraged loans and loosening of standards in the indirect auto market. Therefore, the OCC will continue to closely evaluate current underwriting standards by conducting targeted underwriting examinations and completing the annual underwriting survey. The OCC will be working to complete the implementation of recommended actions arising out of the Large and Midsize Supervision Peer Review project and will also continue efforts to implement its strategic initiatives to make the OCC a stronger and more effective organization.
