Seas of Fate

Presented here are true-life stories of the sea, retelling strange coincidences, luck, chance, curses and of hidden treasure. Fate feeds on the energy of adventurers and treasure hunters. Fate bends them in multiple directions, providing them with either good or bad circumstances, well outside of their personal control. Hidden treasure, these are two words which are calculated to make the sturdiest heart beat faster in excitement and anticipation. They create an emotional longing few can resist, a desperation of need and of want, often compelling men to take desperate risks with an optimism that seldom goes beyond sanity. Often their doom has already been set in motion, their dreams being divorced from reality. For other seafarers and treasure seekers who hoped and prayed they were resilient enough to survive the cards which fate had dealt out to them, they were sometimes released from their actions by chance or merciful providence. Finally free from their burden of doom after many weeks or months of long voyages, hearing only the creaking timbers and the wind blowing, or a heavy heart as they see the sails hung loose, becalmed. Once their quest was over they were able to continue their lives, either wealthy, transported to a richer world, or impoverished, left with only their memories of sea roving
