In The Wild Time and The Game of the Masters, the Wizards' League fought two battles, first with wayward Gods of Alantéa and then with evil, supernatural forces. Their League survived both struggles - but only narrowly.
During the second conflict, Julian the Apprentice and his allies emerged as hidden reserves, even a force of destiny for the League. Other Dark Powers feel that Julian must be challenged, or even better, destroyed. So, they have called the Wizards' attention to a remote being that dwells at the far north of the League's borders.
This being is known as the Grey Witch of the North, and Julian and his two Familiars, Sebastian and Rafir, are sent to deal with her. With this move, the Wizards hope to protect Julian from other threats - but their efforts don't turn out as planned.
What the Wizards and the forces toying with the League do not understand is that the Grey Witch of the North is powerfully evil - and not even human.
