Map-based Comparative Genomics in Legumes: Comparison of Genomic Structures and Evolution of Legumes

Since systems biology has opened a new era in modern biology, it has greatly facilitated transforming the past one-by-one approach into multiple data processing thereby enabling a deeper understanding of complex biological systems. Comparative genomics is an important area of systems biology and offers efficient means by translating information gained from a model system to more complex genomes. This book deals with map-based comparative genomics in legumes. Scientists have used genetic mapping for a long time to understand the basic structure of genomes. However, genetic markers are mostly species-specific implicating that they can't be readily utilized across other organisms. Toward this end, this book elucidates a clear solution to the long-lasting limitation of genetic markers and provides information on advanced marker technology in which has special features not only for cross-genome mapping but also for molecular phylogenetic study. I believe this work should shed some light on the area of comparative genomics, and should be especially useful to professionals in genetics, genomics and breeding science or anyone else that are interested in its technical application.
