Mechanical Process Separations: a Textbook for Process Engineering Students
George Afrane
Process engineering curricula in most universities in developing countries have been fashioned after those of similar institutions in developed countries where the process industry is diverse and advanced. In less-developed countries the industry is not well developed, and the kinds of processes treated in this book, for example, screening, size reduction, settling, fluidization, filtration and pneumatic conveying, which predominate in the rudimentary process industry of smaller economies, and which are given abbreviated treatment in established textbooks, have been extensive coverage. These processes are commonly used in industry at all levels of sophistication and scale, and therefore the book should be relevant to all process engineering students, regardless of origin. Numerous example problems have been provided for the benefit of students. A variety of problems of varying difficulty have also been given in Self-Assessment Tests and Problems. Answers have been provided for all the numerical Self-Assessment problems, as well as for some selected problems at the end of each chapter
