The chapter I provides an introduction to Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS), Importance & Objectives of the study, Methodology and Scope of the study, Sample design of the study, Review of the literature and Chapterisation. The chapter II is intended to provide a brief history of PSBs, the reasons for implementing (VRS), Banks, the salient features of the VRS, and the impact of VRS on Banks in terms of both physical and financial performance. In Chapter III an attempt has been made to provide i) a brief history of the State Bank of Hyderabad (SBH); ii) an introduction to VRS iii) an evaluation of VRS in SBH and iv) the profile of VR optees etc. The chapter IV is aimed at studying the causes for various categories of the employees of SBH opting for VRS. The reasons are divided into three viz., official reasons, personal reasons and attractive VR package. The required data are collected by administering a structured questionnaire. Chapter V aims at analyzing the impact of VRS on the optees. first section analyses the financial impact, the second section deals with the social impact of VRS on its sample optees. ChapterVI provides the summary and conclusions of the study.
