Nigeria witnessed the outbreak of the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza in 2006. The disease threatened the means of livelihood of millions of Nigerians who were directly engaged in the poultry business. Apart from the over one million birds lost to the disease, Nigeria also recorded human casualty which occurred in Lagos State. This work reveals the utilization of the media in the dissemination of information about the prevention and control of Avian Influenza. The work will be an asset to communication scholars and government/ development agencies.
