Optical Fibre Network Access Optimisation: Optical Fibre Network Access Optimisation (A University Approach)

Optical Fibre Network Access Optimisation: This work was made a reality with the supervision of Professor Christian A. Bolu whose expertise in the area of Industrialisation and Manufacturing Engineering contributed in no small measure to the success of this work. This paper exposes the reader to Operations Research and Mathematical Programming. It is desired that a fibre optic network connection be the one where cost is minimised while quality service remains high. Three buildings were mapped out and bandwidths were distributed (transportation Problem) from the Network Operating Center (NOC). We formulated the problem as a Mathematical Program and solved with the Linear Programming approach. This book is highly recommended to Students, Engineers and other researchers in this field. The methods are relevant and practicable to the growing mechanical, Communication technology, and other industries.
