Dylan Thomas has written not only good poems, but several very good poems. He is right about the power of a good poem 'to change the shape of the universe.' His poetry had the desired impact on the world, and hopefully the universe, too. This author is releasing this bouquet of poems with much trepidation. He's certain about one thing. His poems do not meet the exalting standards set by Dylan Thomas, and other great poets of the past, and the present. But he is hopeful that one or more of the poems in this collection may at least help 'to extend', if not 'everyone's knowledge', at least the author's knowledge 'of himself.' 'Modesty is a virtue not often found among poets, for almost every one of them thinks himself the greatest in the world, ' observed Miguel de Cervantes. This author has much of that rare virtue of modesty. He is very humble, because he has much to be humble about. He makes no claim whatsoever to be counted among the great poets. Most of the poems have been recently written, and dwell on contemporary themes and concerns. Many poems draw upon the socio-cultural context which has shaped the author's thoughts and feelings.
