Once Upon a Time in Lagos

In the 1960s, civil war looms in Nigeria. It was during this time that Jideofor Okorie, a young African-American doctoral student, was sent to Nigeria to conduct a research about malaria. While on this mission in Lagos, Nigeria, he becomes embroiled in a "cat and mouse" chase related to the mysterious Five Majors - a group of unhappy soldiers trying to overthrow Nigeria's government. Then he meets Michael Reddington, the American journalist who gave him the information about the Five Majors. Michael Reddington is soon killed in Jideofor's apartment. Jideofor must now elude the police, who are hunting him for murder, and the Five Majors, who wants him dead. This novel narrated how Jideofor Okorie was able to survive these ordeals and returned back to America before Nigeria's civil war began.
